Three Things to Order at Citizen Public House and Oyster Bar
We went in search of oysters, and found SO much more. Scotch with ice balls and burgers. Oh my! Only at the Citizen Public House in Fenway.
- Citizen Signature Mint Julep: Named by Boston Magazine as the best mint julep in the city, this is a must try. If you’ve never had one before, this is the perfect one to start out with.
- Oysters: This IS an oyster house after all. Selection changes daily, guaranteeing freshness (and a nice variety too!).
- Ground Sirloin Burger: One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Although served with cheddar, we ordered it plain and were really able to appreciate the true taste of the sirloin.
Runner’s Up:
Scotch with Ice ball: With 75 whiskeys, any connoisseur will have a field day at Citizen. This incredible variety is only topped by their copper ice ball maker, producing (in a matter of seconds) a perfectly sphere ball of ice to compliment whichever of the 75 whiskeys suits your fancy. Our two favorites are the Lagavulin 16 and Talisker 10.
Whole Roasted Suckling Pig: Got 10 friends? Grab all of them and head to Citizen for a pig roast! Not only do you get a whole pig that has been slow-roasted for 14 hours, you also get assorted shellfish and some sides and veggies too. Invite BeantownEats, we’ll come!
Ideal Manhattan: Citizen’s take on a classic Manhattan includes St. Germain and grapefruit bitters. This type of delicious innovation makes me confident that I could order any cocktail off the menu and enjoy it, that’s how good it was.
